The "Video the Vote" project (
http://videothevote.org/) seeks to enlist volunteers to document, on video, any "irregularities" that occuring during polling next Tusday November 7th. At most locations I think their volunteers will have to be outside of polling places, but they will seek to do on-the-spot interviews with people who have problems voting, and quickly upload that video to the web for broader sharing with election officials and the public. They say:
We will document and report any irregularities that occur at polling places and boards of elections while they are happening, enabling the media and public to watch-dog the electoral process across our country.
I think this is a very interesting application of citizen journalism, tapping into public concern about voting irregularities and marrying the power of video, the ease of use of new web tools for video, and the broad reach of the web.
